We had some very good midfielders when I was at Sunderland, players like Stefan Schwarz, Alex Rae, Gavin Mccann, all really strong tackling players.
Maybe Eric wasn’t as aggressive and as tough-tackling as many midfielders are in England, but he was from France and he had different strengths and his quality on the ball was really good.
