Durham welcome the Foxes

-

DURHAM coach James Franklin has named an unchanged squad of 15 for Durham’ final home Vitality Blast game of the season against Leicestershire Foxes this afternoon, which starts at 2pm.

Durham go into today’s fixture on the back of a comprehensive 55-run victory over Derbyshire Falcons on Friday night, as Ben Raine smashed eight sixes to power Durham to their first win of the 2020 season.

Raine scored 71 from only 39 balls, equalling John Hastings’ record for most sixes in a T20 innings for Durham.

He was supported by an unbeaten 77 from Alex Lees and Graham Clark (45) to post the home side’s second-highest 20-over score of 223 for two - only two runs shy of their all-time record.

Leus Du Plooy top scored for the visitors with 53, but Durham were always in control after their fireworks with the bat.

Paul Coughlin and Nathan Rimmington claimed two wickets apiece for the hosts as the Falcons slumped to their fourth defeat in the competition.

Raine’s 123-run partnership with Lees had Durham in complete control of the North group clash, and they will be hoping for more of the same against the visiting Foxes this afternoon.

So Durham will be coming into the game on a positive note, looking to make it back-to-back wins in all competitions for the first time this season.

However, their opponents Leicestershire Foxes will also be in high spirits having enjoyed a last-ball thriller over Yorkshire Vikings on Friday evening, chasing down 189 to secure a dramatic victory.

Durham moved off the foot of the table on Friday night and now have three points, with the Foxes sitting in third place on seven points, three points behind table-toppers Notts Outlaws.
