- MARK CARRUTHERS

NORTH Shields striker Dan Wilson came back to haunt his former club with a hat-trick as the Robins claimed a 3-1 win at Seaham Red Star.

The powerful frontman put Shields ahead just before half-time, doubling his tally midway through the secondhalf then rounded off a fine individual performance with a neat finish for his third 13 minutes from time.

There was still time for the hosts to pull a goal back as Luke Sullivan grabbed his first competitive goal for Red Star after joining in the summer.

Local rivals Newton Aycliffe and Shildon shared the points after a hard-fought affair at Moore Lane.

David Palmer got on the end of a Jordan Lavery corner kick to put the visitors ahead just after half-time – but they were reduced to ten men when Lavery was shown a red card for a strong challenge on Ben Reay.

The Aycliffe man got his own back on 69 minutes as he claimed a point for his side with a stunning long-range strike that found its way into the top corner of Shaun Newbrook’s net.

Northallerton Town narrowly won the only other Division One fixture yesterday, Charlie Graham with the only goal at home to Whickham.

Willington moved into the top two of Division Two with a 3-2 win against Heaton Stannington at Hall Lane.

The game looked to be going the way of the Stan after goals from Jonathan Wright and Lee Johnson, but it was Willington that claimed all three points thanks to a Lewis Martin brace and a late winner from Bradley Burns.

Bedlington Terriers made it two wins in as many games by edging a tight game at Billingham Synthonia.

Cameron Fenton put the Terriers ahead on 20 minutes, but they were pegged back by a Kurtis Howes penalty on the half-hour mark.

Both sides had chances to edge in front, but it was Terriers that took the honours when Mackenzie Sharpe got the decisive goal on 66 minutes.

Mark Bullock got his first league win as Ryton and Crawcrook Albion boss after Louis Anderson, Matthew Law and Callum Turnbull all found the net in their 3-1 win at Tow Law Town.

Adam Lennox hit a hat-trick to give Jarrow their first win of the season with a 3-1 home win against Durham City, Abdul Wahab with their only goal.

Brandon United also got off the mark for the season as two goals from Kai Hewitson and one from Reece Brown gave them a 3-0 home win against Sunderland West End.

Redcar Athletic shared the points with visitors Newcastle University after Niza Chilufya’s opener was cancelled out by the hosts’ striker Jordan Rivis.

And Carlisle City battled to a 2-1 home win against Esh Winning, despite Matthew Allison getting the hosts back in the game after Robert Mccartney and Ben Palmer put the Cumbrian side in control of proceedings with goals either side of half-time.
