A SOUTH Shields couple are set to raffle their £380,000 Spanish villa for £2.50 a ticket in order to return home.

Gina Ironside and husband Wayne have lived in the villa in the Fanabe area of Tenerife for seven years with their two children, son Louis and daughter Poppy.

Gina said: “We came to Tenerife mainly for the climate and we thought it was a great place to bring up small children, which it is and we wouldn’t change it for the world, they have had a great childhood here. They have gone to an amazing school.

“My son is now back in the UK at college and has also landed himself a little job. This is the main reason for going back full time but it will also be great to spend more time with our family.

“My daughter would also like to get into nursing when she finishes her education.”

The semi-detached villa is located on a large corner plot with gardens that provide outdoor living space with a built-in Jacuzzi, dining area, various seating areas and a wooden pergola.

There are two further garden access points, one leading to the community swimming pools.

Explaining the novel way of selling their home, Gina said: “I have heard in the past of people who have raffled their house.

“This idea really appealed to me as we get to sell and someone would win our beautiful home.”

She said they had thought it would be a bit daunting, but were recommended to Prize Villas by a friend as it specialises in property raffles.

“It has made it so much easier to run the raffle by teaming with them to carry out the hosting and marketing,” said Gina.

The competition runs from November 16 to March 16 next year and 230,000 tickets are being made available to buy.

Gina said: “I believe my villa is worth around 430,000 Euros (around £380,00) but I am leaving it fully furnished and practically ready to move into, so I receive the amount of 440,000.

“The extra amount will cover the marketing, advertising and associated purchase costs, plus buyer taxes for the winner.

“The winner of the raffle will be flown to Tenerife for an all-expenses-paid trip whilst signing for the property at the Notaria office.

“All of the costs will be covered by the raffle.

“The raffle also gives a 1% donation to my chosen charity.”

Gina is originally from Jarrow and Wayne from South Shields, which is where they set up home.

The couple have been together 28 years. Back home Gina was a barber for many years before working at M&S. Wayne works in the offshore industry.

She said: “We have had seven happy years in our home. It’s in a beautiful complex of 34 houses with a communal pool area. It’s a very quite, friendly and safe community and we will certainly miss it.”
