Fans call for manager to take blame in damp squib

- Matty Hewitt

SUNDERLAND fans were once again left outraged after the Black Cats dropped two points on the road to Doncaster Rovers.

Phil Parkinson’s men took the lead through a Grant Leadbitter wonder strike but were pegged back in the dying embers of the game as Fejiri Okenabirhie forced the ball home in a goalmouth scramble right at the death.

The result has once again led fans to question whether Parkinson is the right man at the helm after three successive defeats.

Riddler2493 said on Twitter: “Manager has to take the blame, sitting on a 1-0 and taking too long to put fresh legs on.

“Tired legs make mistakes. Some Player performances were woeful.

“Wyke offered nothing and his second touch is a tackle. Flanagan gets turned twice Parky won’t get us promoted.”

Kevin Moeliker said: “Nothing about this side is a promotion side: We lack quality. We lack goals.

“We lack that mental toughness. We suffer from the manager’s inability to adapt and change; his outdated tactics and dour football.

“We drop points in games others would win by two or three. Says it all.”

Gary Coverdale said: “Absolutely shocking again. First half was good.

“But we were poor in the second half and it took the clueless manager 75 minutes to make a change.

“Then he only makes two when he could have made five.

“He needs to go NOW.”

Kevin Dinsdale said: “But for last 25 minutes of the first half - awful.

“Not one ‘must score’ chance created in 90 minutes, despite completely dominating almost a third of the game, sums it up for me.”
