‘It’s good to know there’s a buffer if we need it’
“It’s good to know the schemes are there should we need them. It means if anything does happen, we’ve got that buffer there we need it,” says Lara Findlay of Edinburgh-based software firm Gearedapp.
“We did end up using the furlough scheme for a couple of team members – those who were less essential to the projects we had running – to try to protect ourselves. We cut back on lots of unnecessary spending and used Business Rates Grant of £10,000, which we got at the beginning.
“The CBILS was a really good buffer for us, and it was really straightforward to apply for via our bank. We got that approved within a week. We’ve been deferring our tax up until now and it’s good to know that options like that are available.”
