Charlton climb to third after taking down Tractor Boys

-

CHARLTON stole a march on their Sky Bet League One promotion rivals with a 2-0 win over Ipswich at Portman Road.

Midfielder Albie Morgan, 20, put the Addicks ahead on 21 minutes to open his league account for the club.

Substitute Omar Bogle had not been on the pitch long when he added a second after 68 minutes, sliding the ball in for his first Charlton goal after arriving as a free agent in October.

Charlton climb to third, while Ipswich are sixth following a second successive home league defeat.

Tyler Smith struck in injury-time as Swindon fought back to win 2-1 at local rivals Oxford.

Matty Taylor had put the U’s ahead on 15 minutes, which looked to be enough for all three points before defender Tom Broadbent knocked in a rebound with five minutes left.

There was, though, still enough time for Smith to snatch a dramatic winner.

Bolton extended their winning run to four League Two games with a 3-0 home victory over bottom club Southend.

Nathan Delfouneso broke the deadlock just before half-time, with Eoin Doyle adding a second from the penalty spot on 65 minutes.

The veteran Irishman scored again with nine minutes left to put Wanderers up to ninth, while the Shrimpers remain cast adrift.

Port Vale suffered a fifth straight league defeat after they were beaten 3-2 at home by Leyton Orient.

Captain Leon Legge had headed the Valiants in front after eight minutes, but the O’s were soon level through Danny Johnson, who nodded in his 13th goal of the season.

Conor Wilkinson made it 2-1 on the half-hour, only for Vale to equalise through a fine finish from Cristian Montano after 76 minutes.

Orient, though, snatched all three points when James Brophy bundled the ball in from close range with five minutes left.
