Community order for slapping ex in row

-

A DAD who slapped his ex-partner in front of their children after a row broke out when he visited her home has walked free from court.

Wayne Moore lost his cool after going to her house in Hartlepool, launching the attack as she stood in the kitchen telling her: “That’s for calling the police on me.”

After slapping his victim across the face the dad-of-three opened the kitchen door and began to bang his head off it, Teesside Magistrates’ Court heard.

Moore, 45, admitted assaulting the woman by slapping her across the face on May 31 last year.

A Newton hearing was held in March to determine the extent of the attack.

The court was told Moore and his victim had been together for 25 years

and the pair had three children but at the time of the incident the relationship had broken down.

Liz Mcgowan, prosecuting at the time, asked his victim about the relationship and the attack.

However the motherof-three, who gave evidence via videolink, told the court she had no recollection of the incident and could not remember him coming to the house.

Ms Mcgowan said two children were in the house at the time and one had pleaded:

“Daddy, daddy.”

Neil Taylor, defending, said Moore pleaded guilty on the basis of the slap and that he was banging his own head off the door.

Moore, of Lynmouth Walk, Hartlepool, appeared at the same court to be sentenced on Thursday.

He was given a 12-month community order.
