57-YEAR-OLD IN A RUT DROPS FIVE DRESS SIZES

FROM worrying if she would fit into a seat on a plan to facing anxiety about being judged for her size, Tracy Green decided something had to change.

Self-conscious, unhealthy and stuck in a rut, the 57-year-old selfconfessed chocoholic and cheese lover would snack for comfort and soon began to pile on the weight.

Wearing oversized clothes to hide her flab, Tracy decided enough was enough and joined Slimming World.

Now a slither of her former self after dropping from a dress size 24 to a size 14 in just eight months.

Tracy is almost half the woman she used to be after weighing in at 19 stone 6lbs and now shedding the pounds to step on the scales at 11st 6lbs.

The retired HR specialist from Birtley said: “I have struggled with my weight for many years and been a successive yo-yo dieter.

“I was working full time and also caring for my elderly mother, so didn’t feel I had any time for myself and also no time to cook and prepare food properly.

“I was very low in confidence, thinking that everybody was judging me on my size as opposed to the person inside.

“As someone in my late 50s I worried about my health issues.

“I worried that when I went on a plane that the seat belt would be tight or indeed may need an extension so air travel became a stressful experience, not the joy of exploring the world it should have been.”

After scrapping fast food and takeaways for healthy freshly-cooked meals, Tracy said she has found a new love for different foods.

Every day she now eats fruit and vegetables, with food high in protein and said she never feels hungry.

And thanks to her dedicated dieting she has been given a new lease of life feeling much healthier and able to live her life to the full.

She added: “I can walk much further now and feel I have so much more energy, overall I feel much healthier.

“I’m now able to shop where I want and buy nice clothes which is a plus, without the stress and unhappiness I felt before of having the embarrassment of things not fitting or having to be told they didn’t do my size.

“I’m happier and starting to feel less self-conscious and my confidence is coming back gradually.

“I am also starting to believe that I can be thinner for life with this new eating and exercising regime, it actually feels it could be sustainable, which I have never felt before.

“Slimming World is a community that helps each other through the good times and the bad.”

Tracy attends Slimming World Group every Saturday at Birtley Masonic Hall.
