A WOMAN from Newcastle was left in disbelief after fighting off three other contestants to win £12,000 on Jimmy Carr’s new game show.

Kerri James, 35, from Walker put her memory to the test on Channel 4’s latest quiz show ‘I Literally Just Told You’ hosted by comedian Jimmy Carr.

While there are some multiplechoice questions, the majority are memory-based questions about facts and events that happened earlier in the episode.

Questions steadily increase in value from £250 to £2,000 until four contestants are whittled down to two finalists who face off against each other with the winner taking home the accumulated prize money.

In the final, Kerri faced off against fellow contestant Rachel with the pair writing memory-based questions about the show to ask each other.

But after Kerri answered a question correctly, Rachel failed to get her question right meaning Kerri took £12,000 back to Walker.

She said: “I still can’t believe it. “They don’t give you the money straight away so I only got the money yesterday.

“That was a nice way to wake up getting a notification from your bank to say £12,000 has been put in your account!

“It was really fun, we were on set for about six hours so it looks really easy.

“It looks like we heard some of the stuff like two seconds ago but it was really four hours ago.

“It was hard trying to stay focused the whole time. It was about trying to remember everything that they were talking about and look out for things you should be remembering.”

At one point the show cut to a “fake break” which the contestants were asked questions about in a later memory round. Kerri had “no idea” the break wasn’t real and was asked a question about what Jimmy Carr ordered during the fake break.

She explained: “I had absolutely no idea it was fake! The question I was asked, I was actually listening to because I’m nosy and want to know what a celebrity orders for lunch but I didn’t hear it!”

Kerri said spending time with her fellow contestants and Jimmy Carr was “really fun” and said she even saw a few more famous faces including presenter Richard Bacon who produced the show.

She said: “Greg was hilarious and Rachel, who I was in the final with, was so lovely and quite inspiring.

“Rachel is trying to get other women into plumbing, she’s just amazing, probably a more worthy winner than me! Jimmy is really nice, he’s basically exactly the same, there is no difference off camera! We met him just as we were about to go onto the set.

“It was filmed at the old BBC studios in London so they were filming a few other shows. When we were filming, we saw Kate Garraway walk past with her hair in rollers! ”

Kerri didn’t even apply for the show and was asked to audition after being scouted on Instagram.

She added: “They found me on Instagram and asked me to audition, I didn’t even apply for it. In the audition, they did a memory quiz and recorded it all on video.

“I only found out I was on the show a week before so you don’t have any time to prepare.

“We knew the format and how it all works but we didn’t have a clue about what would be asked. We were told about all the rules and there was someone there for fairness.”

During the show, Kerri explained how she would use the money to buy her half-husky half-staffy Foxy a palace – but she’s also saving a bit of money for some house improvements.

She said: “Foxy already has her own bedroom so I’m going to get her a couple of bits, I might get her a new duvet and plenty of treats! She’ll definitely be spoilt!

“I’m going to do some stuff around the house so I want to get a hot tub on the roof terrace and I also want to get a wood-burning stove.

“That money is life-changing because the changes I’m making to my house are going to quadruple the value.”
