Bogle’s the boy for Pools as they scrape victory

Crawley Town...0 Hartlepool Utd...1 AN AWAY WIN AT LAST

- CRAWLEY TOWN: Morris, Francomb, Tunnicliffe, Craig, Tsaroulla, Tilley (Hutchinson), Powell, Payne (Davies), Ferry (Matthews), Nadesan, Oteh (Grego-cox) Subs: Seymour, Gallacher HARTLEPOOL UNITED: Killip, Sterry, Byrne, Odusina, Ferguson, White (Shelton),

OMAR Bogle continued his impressive start to life at Hartlepool United by scoring the only goal in their narrow win at Crawley Town.

Graeme Lee’s side have been without a win on the road four around four months – but that all changed as Bogle’s first-half goal gave them the points on the south coast.

It could have all been very different had their hosts been more clinical in the opening minutes of the game as Jack Payne and Jack Powell both struck the woodwork.

Pools also had a glorious chance to open the scoring when young forward Joe Grey burst in on goal but his weak effort was saved by Red Devils keeper Glenn Morris.

The stopper was forced into immediate action seconds later as he kept out the rebound after it had deflected off team-mate George Francomb.

The deadlock remained in place until five minutes before half-time when Bogle’s moment arrived.

The former Grimsby Town striker racked up his second goal of his time with the club with a neat finish as his side found the net during an away game for the first time since Boxing Day.

The early moments of the secondhalf were disrupted by a serious looking injury to Crawley’s James Tilley after he was struck in the face with the ball. Tilley was stretchered from the pitch with his neck in a brace after an 11-minute delay and he was replaced by Isaac Hutchinson. The hosts pushed forward as they looked to grab an equaliser with Pools number one Ben Killip producing a fine save to keep out a header from Ashley Nadesen.

That preserved his clean sheet and ensured his side kept within touching distance of the top ten in League Two.

A miserable day was rounded off for Crawley when manager John Yems was sent to the stands for arguing with referee Brett Huxtable.
