THE death of a 15-year-old whose disappearance sparked a major search has been subjected to a “lengthy and detailed” investigation.

A “loving, funny, bubbly and humble girl”, Seesha Dack was reported missing in August 2020, having last been seen by friends in the Fish Quay area of her hometown North Shields.

Police launched an extensive search but, tragically, two days later, on September 1, 2020, her body was found near Tanners Bank. An inquest into her death will now be held at Newcastle Coroner’s Court.

Launching the proceedings, Newcastle Senior Coroner Karen Dilks said the 15-year-old’s death had been confirmed in the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, in Cramlington.

She said: “[T]he issues regarding Seesha’s death have been subject to a very lengthy and detailed investigation, hence the timing of this opening. I am now in a position to list the case for a pre-inquest review.” Ms Dilks also formally admitted into the record the statement of Donna Dacks, identifying Seesha’s body.

Tributes flooded in after the death of the teenager, while hundreds of people gathered at Fish Quay Sands for an emotional balloon release to say farewell.

Paying tribute to Seesha after she had been found, her family said in a statement: “We are beyond devastated by the loss of our daughter and sister Seesha. Seesha was a loving, funny, bubbly and humble girl with a smile that could light up any room.

“Her personality was precious and can never be replaced.

“She always went out of her way for other people, even going so far as to take food from home to give to

a homeless man that she saw regularly. Even though it wasn’t the news that we were hoping for, we would like to thank everyone from the community and beyond for all their help while we were looking for her.”

The pre-inquest review is set to take place on March 30.
