Injury-hit Hornets soundly beaten

- BRIGHOUSE HEBBURN

A DEPLETED Hebburn Town suffered a 3-1 defeat in West Yorkshire, as Brighouse leap-froggeded Kevin Bolam’s side in the table.

The Hornets were forced to start a number of youngsters, in shotstopper Kieran Hunter and Liam Murray, while 16-year-old Lewis Rutherford debuted off the bench.

Robbie Spence gave away a free kick from 20 yards on the left, and the resulting scramble was tucked home by Harrison Beeden on 14 minutes.

A failed Hebburn clearance then allowed Laurence Sorhaindo to poke into the path of Javelle Clarke on 27, and the winger made no mistake 3 1

in finding the bottom right corner.

Spence created two great chances for Hebburn in the first period, hitting the bar and stroking narrowly wide from the edge.

Having come on at half time, David Allasan pulled one back for the visitors after picking up Michael Richardson’s pass and slotting home at close-range.

Hunter held on to Clarke’s pointblank effort with 62 on the clock, however, Brighouse would restore the two-goal advantage seconds later.

Neat play down the right flank gave Sorhaindo the chance to slot into the bottom left, putting it out of Hunter’s reach.

Amar Purewal headed Dylan Archer’s cross over with 15 to go, which proved to be the last clean opportunity of the game.
