-

YESTERDAY saw the final couple of games played in the Bay Plastics Northern Alliance Premier Division, Killingworth having been crowned champions after reversing a two-goal, half-time deficit, at home to Wallington in midweek.

Of the two games played, the champions made the trip to Haltwhistle Jubilee, collecting a 5-1 victory, meanwhile, Alnwick Town wrapped up their campaign with a 3-0 win at home to Whitley Bay Reserves

Killy’s season would finish with a late brace from Michael Baxter, adding to earlier efforts from Harrison Devine, Darryl Basham, and an own-goal, the hosts’ reply coming from Jamie Connor. Alnwick wrapped up a home win with goals from Lewis Fairbairn, Simon Farrier and Ben Bradburn.

In the Reeves Independent First Division, the title race will go to the last round of matches, with Newcastle Independent, Cramlington United, and AFC Newbiggin, all with a shot of success.

Two of the top three were on the road, Independent at Hexham, and Cramlington at Rothbury, while Newbiggin fielded the tricky task of hosting FC United of Newcastle. Independent won 3-1 to remain ahead on goal difference, Wilson Kneeshaw at the double, and Cramlington saw off hosts Rothbury 5-1, Daniel Lowther with a hat-trick.

Newbiggin, meanwhile, in third, were held to a 1-1 draw at home to FC United of Newcastle, the same result occurring between Hebburn Town U23s and Seaton Burn, while Bedlington won 3-0 at Gosforth Bohemians, goals coming from Andrew Mclennan, Joe Thompson, and Ben Culling.

Stobswood Welfare wrapped up the Team Valley Carpets Second Division title a few weeks back, so it’s been down to Newcastle East End to challenge for runner-up. They hosted Newcastle University A, and edged a seven-goal thriller to claim second spot.

Lewis Laidler would open and close the scoring for East End, Michael Mullaghan and Lewis Cairns also netting, the Uni replied through Luke Conkleton, Andrew O’neil, and Euan Pollaro.

Willington Quay Saints wrapped up third with a comfortable 6-1 win at home to Ashington Reserves, Elliott Mitchell with a treble, while Newcastle Blue Star Reserves won 4-3 away to Wideopen as Kyle Cockburn scored twice for the visitors, and Jack Desmond the same for the hosts.

Blaydon Community won the Bluefin Sport Insurance Third Division in midweek after seeing off visitors AFC Newbiggin Central, 3-1, and finished their campaign with a 2-2 draw away to Blyth Town U23s, and Whickham U23s won 3-2 at home to North Sunderland.
