South North waste no time cruising to win at the coast

IN the Dukes ECB North East Premier League, Tynemouth lost early wickets at home to South North.

Stuart Poynter made 31, but Calum Fletcher claimed 3-16 and Sean Tindale 5-42, as they were skittled for just 136. The visitors wasted no time in securing another win, as Solomon Bell (74no) and Tshepang Dithole (43) guided them home to victory on 138-2.

Sunderland also had a bad start at Hetton Lyons, as they slumped to 66-5 thanks to Chris Ralston taking 3-25, while Micky Allan scored 31 and they eventually totalled 135 all out. The Lyons then also struggled, as Kieran Waterson claimed (5-47) to reduce them to 79-6. However, Rob Talbot with a cool 29 not out, secured victory on 136-8.

Burnmoor made a good start in their game at Burnopfiel­d. Riley Blunt hit 33 and Ross Greenwell made a useful 91 and then Alexander Simpson smashed 48 not out from 27 balls, to give them a total of 276-6 declared. The home side then lost early wickets, as Waqas Mahmood seemed unplayable in taking 6-27 and then Graeme Bridge claimed 3-8, as they collapsed to 64 all out.

Ben Robinson was in good nick for Newcastle, as they batted first at home to Eppleton. He made 52 alongside Jacques Du Toit (47), as they totalled 177 all out, while Taj Wali and Andrew Ebdale shared eight wickets. The hosts then had Colin Mann making 32, Max Whinskill (58) and Du Toit claimed 3-45, and Jesse Tashkoff 3-23, as the match reached a close finish with the home side ending up 173 all out.

Chester-le-street started terribly at Felling, as Paul Leonard ripped up the batting order taking 5-34 from his 15 overs and reduce the visitors to 52-6. However, Josh Wilson carved out a brilliant 106 not out from 116 balls, which included 12 fours and three sixes. He put on 92 runs for the eighth wicket with John Harrison (38) and they eventually got up to 209 all out.

The home side then had Travis Norris scoring 38, then Francis Collins 37, as they finished on

185-6 chasing a revised target of 210, from 38 overs.

Kevin D’almeida scored an impressive 107 and Jack Burnham 137 from 89 balls, which included seven fours and 13 sixes, as his team Whitburn made a good start at home to Benwell Hill, despite losing Vishal Tripathi from the first ball of the match. They totalled 326-9 declared in the end, to set a massive target. The Hill then had Finn Mccreath in good nick, as he made 53, then Phillip Bell 32, Max Williamson 34 and Peter Halliday 54 not out, to close on 238-7.
