THE busy summer of Croft racing action roars ahead this weekend as the British Automobile Racing Club gears up for day two of action today.

Some of the UK’S leading national motorsport series will be tearing up the North Yorkshire Tarmac this afternoon as title rivalries heat up with the season now in full swing.

Likely to prove a pivotal round in deciding some of the championship silverware, today will feature action from a number of popular fourwheel series.

The biggest crowd-pleasers look likely to be the latest instalment of the CNC Heads Sports/saloon Car Championship along with the 2Cvparts.com Championship. Also in action will be the stars of the Caterham Graduates, Junior Saloon Car and Pickup Truck Racing Championships.

Today’s on-track action begins at 12.05pm with the first of eight races and admission is £17 with accompanied under-15s admitted free.

From there, the next race weekend will be the Battle of Britain on August 20/21 as chiefs are working hard behind the scenes to prepare for the return of the Croft Nostalgia Event on Sunday, September 4.

After a three-year absence, the popular day returns for its 10th running as the circuit plays homage to its past as part of a Historic Sports Car Club race meeting.

The late summer event has been planned with the whole family in mind and will boast a host of attractions to keep everyone entertained.

Classic and vintage car fans will be able to get up close and personal with various displays and watch the cars in action during track parades.

Vehicles already expected include a 1961 Turner Sports Mk2, 1964 Austin-healey 3000 Mk3, 1964 MGB GT, 1936 Rolls-royce Park Ward Limousine, plus an MG Midget, an AMC Hornet Sportabout Gucci Edition, a Ford Mustang, classic Triumphs and more.

Aside from the cars, there will be plenty of other attractions including fairground rides, trade stands, food and drink stalls and entertainment from local musicians including Daisy Belles and the Ragtime Swing Band.

There will, of course, also be a busy day of racing action from the club plus more attractions set to be finalised in the coming weeks.

And to add to the magic, all visitors are encouraged to turn up on the day in period costumes from the 1940s, 50s and 60s.

Admission for the Nostalgia Event will be £25 on the gate but are available for £20 in advance via Croft’s website until August 26.
