Tynedale trounce Tillside in only 14.1 overs

IN the Northumber­land & Tyneside Cricket League, secondplac­ed Tynedale travelled to basement club Tillside and put the home team in to bat.

Tillside were all out for 82, in 28.4 overs.

Jake Birkett was their top scorer with 26. Archie Fletcher (3-25) and Thomas Cant (4-22) were most effective in adding to Tillside’s troubles.

Tynedale trounced their hosts in only 14.1 overs, scoring 86-3. Oliver Fletcher was best with the bat, hitting 34 not out from 18 balls, including six fours.

Consett were put in to bat by hosts Newcastle City and slumped to 111 all out in 33.3 overs.

Robbie Winn was their best with 28.

Consett were held back by the effective bowling of Zohaib Khan and Farhan Mohammed, who took 4-45 and 3-9 respective­ly.

Newcastle City did not come out to bat as unfortunat­ely the match was abandoned due to rain.

Percy Main put visitors Annfield Plain in to bat and in 41 overs, they reached a total of 205-4. David Maughan hit a respectabl­e 80 not out from 50 balls, including nine fours, aut for 19.

Unfortunat­ely rain stopped play and the game had to be abandoned.

Swalwell travelled to Stocksfiel­d and were put in to bat first. In 30.4 overs they reached 109-5.

Lee Whitfield top scored with 32, but yet again the weather was the winner and the match was abandoned due to rain.

Alnmouth & Lesbury were all out for 101 in 39 overs when they travelled to Ponteland.

Their top scorer was Paul Straker with 26. Ben O’brien (3-16) and David Waters (3-10) proved very capable with the ball.

Ponteland could only put together a reply of 37-2 in 10.4 overs when the match was unfortunat­ely abandoned due to rain.

O’brien was best with the bat, hitting 29.
