Oyibo stunner secures victory

- LEAMINGTON SPENNYMOOR TOWN

0 1 JUDE Oyibo scored a stunning winner as Spennymoor Town claimed a hard-earned win at Leamington.

Moors joint-manager Anthony Johnson spoke of the test his side would face against Paul Holleran’s and they passed with flying colours thanks to Oyibo’s strike.

The two sides swapped opportunities in the opening stages as Adam Walker fired over for the hosts and Moors striker Glen Taylor was denied by Brakes goalkeeper Callum Hawkins.

Slowly but surely, Spennymoor began to dominate proceedings with the lively Oyibo at the heart of most of their good work.

The pacy winger set up chances for Taylor and Finn Cousin-dawson, who were unable to punish the hosts with headed efforts.

The deadlock was finally broken on the hour-mark as Oyibo took centre stage once again to give his side a deserved lead.

After collecting a short corner, the winger bamboozled a home defender before crashing a shot beyond Hawkins and into the top corner of his net.

Oyibo almost doubled his tally in what would have been extremely fortunate circumstances when Hawkins cleared against the Moors man but saw the ball drop just before his wide.

With the game slipping away from them, Leamington looked to snatch a point when Jack Lane struck the post and Alex Prosser sent an effort just wide from just outside of the area.

But those missed opportunities were the sum total of their attempts and the Moors held on to take all three points.
