Ponteland lead the goals rush in a high-scoring run of matches
PONTELAND United have gatecrashed the top three in the Bay Plastics Northern Alliance Premier Division after a 5-0 home win against mid-table Wallington. There were also victories for the top two of Burradon & New Fordley and Newcastle Blue Star.
At the Pont, Reece Havelock-brown had them one up early on. The game stayed that way until the second period when Zack Bewley added two more.
Owen Lewis-thompson added another, before Havelock-brown grabbed his second, and the Pont’s fifth in the closing minutes.
Early pacesetters, Burradon & New Fordley, claimed a narrow, 2-1 home win against Winlaton Community, who remain bottom after five straight defeats. Lee Waugh’s double cancelled out Mark Fitzpatrick’s opener.
Blue Star were at home to Cramlington United. Leading by just one at the break, Luke Carr netting after half an hour, the hosts added six more on the restart. Andrew Bulford scored two alongside efforts from Robbie Wilson, Craig Mcfarlane, Ryan Carr and Aaron Willoughby. The win keeps them within three of the leaders.
Gateshead Rutherford are fourth after a 2-1 win, away to Whitley Bay Reserves. Andy Wright scored the decisive goal.
Killingworth saw off visitors Haltwhistle Jubilee 2-0, and Newbiggin won 3-1 away to Newcastle Independent.
Keith Graydon was amongst the scorers as Seaton Delaval were four to the good when their game away to Newcastle Chemfica was abandoned in the closing minutes.
The game between Alnwick Town and Percy Main Amateurs finished 3-3, Brad Mcclelland and Josh Nicholson with a brace apiece.
Newcastle Blue Star Reserves remain top of the Reeves Independent First Division after they won 4-1 away to Hexham. Kobe Bewick scored a brace.
Bedlington, Stobswood,and Rothbury make up the top four, all picking up wins. Bedlington edged hosts Newcastle East End 1-0, Stobswood won 4-0 ay FC United of Newcastle, and Rothbury edged a five-goal game away to Whitburn.
Cullercoats lost for the first time in the Team Valley Carpets Second Division, going down 7-1 away to mid-table Walker Central.
There were also big wins for Newcastle University A, 5-0 away to Seaton Sluice, and Blyth Town U21s, 3-1 at home to Heaton Stannington A.
Benton maintained leadership of the Bluefin Sports Insurance Third Division, although they were held to a goalless draw when home to Alnwick Town Development.
Whickham U23s are second after a 7-3 win away to West Moor & Jesmond U23s. Finlay Gibson took a four-goal haul.
Ashington Reserves won 7-0 at home to Stocksfield. Cameron Elliott scored three alongside two apiece for Kai Leathard and Andrew Carr.
