Toon target still committed to Leeds
JACK Harrison insists he has no plans to leave Leeds United despite being linked with a £25million move to Premier League rivals Newcastle.
It is understood the Magpies made an enquiry for the winger earlier this summer as they look to bolster their attacking options.
But the Whites remain determined to keep another of their prized assets after losing star men Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips to Barcelona and Manchester City respectively for a combined £105million.
Harrison sparked speculation about his future earlier this summer when he gave an ambiguous “we’ll see what happens” response when asked whether he would stay at Leeds beyond pre-season.
Two years remaining on his contract means his value could plummet next season unless he pens an extension at Elland Road.
Bur Harrison has retracted his previous comments and has instead outlined his desire to stay in Yorkshire.
And the wideman insists his only goal this season is to “work hard” for manager Jesse Marsch and his Leeds team-mates.
“I knew nothing about it (the Newcastle
enquiry) and it threw me off,” Harrison said. “My answer gave the wrong impression of what I meant. Social media was talking about it and people were like, ‘What have you said?’
“But it was nothing. My intention is to be here and work hard for this team. If anything I want to make a greater impact than before and I think this is the best place to do that.”
Former Middlesbrough loanee Harrison has scored 28 goals in 167 appearances for Leeds since joining them in 2018 from American side New York City FC.
