Barrow’s boy Gordon is quick off the mark to Wombles’ dismay

-

JOSH Gordon’s 10th-minute strike helped Barrow continue their great start to the season after he touched home Ben Whitfield’s cross to condemn AFC Wimbledon to a 1-0 defeat.

Two unbeaten teams came together as Doncaster took on Northampton at the PTS Academy Stadium but it was Rovers who came out on top 1-0.

The only goal of the game came in the 69th minute after Lee Tomlin was brought down inside the area and George Miller made no mistake from 12 yards to help Doncaster go six games unbeaten.

There was a similar story at the Peninsula Stadium as two undefeated sides faced each other in the form of Salford and Stevenage but the hosts left it late to claim victory. The ball fell to Ryan Watson at the edge of the box, who rifled home as the clock struck 90 to earn all three points.

Sutton recorded their second win of the season with a 2-1 win over Mansfield at the VBS Community Stadium. Josh Neufville put United in front just before the break before Oliver Hawkins equalised for the Stags with 15 minutes to go, but Olusanya Temi Fadahunsi sealed the all-important three points when he headed home with his first touch off the bench.

Walsall have now failed to win in four as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Grimsby. The Saddlers got off to a flyer when Danny Johnson put them in front in the fifth minute but Harry Clifton bagged two goals in five second-half minutes.

Jon Mellish’s deflected effort in the second half earned Carlisle all three points with a 1-0 victory over Gillingham at Brunton Park.

Josh Hawkes and Jake Burton were on target as Tranmere claimed their second win of the season with a 2-0 success over Colchester.

Newport scored four first-half goals as they crushed Harrogate 4-0 at The Envirovent Stadium. Omar Bogle put the visitors in front four minutes in before Kayne Ramsay’s own goal made it 2-0. A third was added by Thierry Nevers and Bogle had his second when he tapped home from close range.

Antoni Sarcevic rescued a point for Stockport in a 1-1 draw with Swindon despite seeing Paddy Madden sent off just minutes before.

Swindon opened the scoring through Frazer Blake-tracy but with 10 minutes left Madden fouled Saidou Khan and was then given his marching orders for an incident off the ball.

Sarcevic grabbed the all-important equaliser with a back-post effort.

Tyrese Sinclair’s 60th-minute equaliser earned Rochdale’s first point of the season in a 1-1 draw against Crawley after Jack Powell had put the visitors in front. Town’s Nick Tsaroulla was sent off late on after being shown a second yellow card.

Bradford played out a goalless draw with Crewe at the University of Bradford Stadium.
