DIVISION ONE

-

SHILDON remain at the top of the Division One table after they produced a professional display in their home win with Birtley Town.

A hat-trick from striker Andrei Ardelean did the business for the current leaders – but they were kept under pressure as second-placed Bishop Auckland battled to a 3-2 home win against Whickham.

The visitors hit back from two goals down at half-time as Dale Burrell and Scott Robson cancelled out first-half strikes from Joe Bartliff and James Risborough – but Bartliff’s second goal handed a boost to the Two Blues’ title hopes.

Nathan Greenwood scored twice in the final 15 minutes to help West Auckland Town see off Carlisle City at the Wanted Stadium.

The two sides were level at the hour-mark as West striker Joshua Scott saw his goal cancelled out by Jordan Palmer’s equaliser, but Greenwood’s intervention ensured the points stayed with the hosts.

Heaton Stannington remained firmly in the play-off race with a 4-2 home win against North Shields – despite being reduced to ten men with just six minutes on the clock.

The Stan’s Sean Reid and Robins defender Ben Harmison had already found the net by the time home midfielder Richie Slaughter saw red for an off-the-ball incident.

Leighton Hopper restored the lead for the hosts moments later before Will Mccamley grabbed North Shields’ second equaliser. But that was as good as it got for the visitors as second-half strikes from Jay Hornsby and the returning Konner Lamb helped Dean Nicholson’s side maintain their top five push.

Two Callum Martin penalties and a Dan Mitton own-goal gave Guisborough Town a 3-1 win at Crook Town.

Dan Lofts and Jack Guy scored twice as Boro Rangers eased to a 6-2 win at Whitley Bay. Ben Turner and Stuart Rose also netted for the visitors at Hillheads as a goal in each half from Lewis Suddick and Cameron Brewis went without reward for Whitley Bay.
