Metro is halted
A FAULT with overhead power cables brought part of the Metro to a halt for almost six hours.
A section of the overhead line came down near Percy Main at approximately 3.10pm on Friday, forcing services to grind to a halt in both directions between Wallsend and North Shields in the affected area.
Passengers were able to use Metro tickets on local bus services and, from 5pm, on a replacement bus between stations.
No trains were left stranded on the line, having pulled up at stations to allow passengers to get off
However, the problems caused delays across the Metro network, with trains not running to the scheduled timetable.
