Hunt for brutes

POLICE are searching for two attackers who left a man in hospital with head injuries.

Officers were called to Front Street in Whickham, Gateshead, on Friday just before midnight.

The 52-year-old victim was taken to hospital with head injuries but his condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

The two suspects are described as white, 19-20 years old and one of them was wearing a blue-and-white hooded top.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “Anyone who believes they saw people acting suspiciously in the area on Friday evening is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 1373 021118 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
