United’s Elias Sorensen

?? ?? NEWCASTLE United are considering sending Danish hotshot Elias Sorensen out on loan in January. The 19-year-old striker has impressed in the second string so far this season and has netted 13 goals already - as well as winning a nomination for Premier League 2 player of the month.Sorensen grabbed a brace in the 4-1 win at Manchester United on Friday night with a host of scouts left wooed by his latest performance.Goals against first-team opposition such as Doncaster Rovers and Notts County in the Checkatrade Trophy also helped put him on the radar of some EFL clubs.Back on Tyneside there have been calls from some fans for Sorensen to get a first team call-up.But Newcastle are treating the youngster very delicately and won’t rush his development.United coaches are delighted with his goal tally so far, but are trying to get him to brush up in other areas and want him to work on his temperament with his exploits this season resulting in extra attention from defenders. The next step for Sorensen could well be a loan stint with a League One or League Two outfit, but Newcastle will want assurances he gets plenty of game time under his belt should he be sent out on deal for the second half of the season. After that Sorensen would then be assessed for pre-season to see whether he is ready to mix it with the first-team squad.Sorensen’s next chance to impress will come on Friday as Newcastle travel to Southampton for a Premier League Cup tie.Sorensen is already just seven goals away from achieving his season target. He said earlier in the campaign: “I always have a little game each season with my dad over how many I will score.“He challenged me to score 20 goals for the season, so I am aiming for that.”
