Battler Kian turns town’s lights on for Christmas

YOUNGSTER’S SWITCH-ON HONOUR

Kian Musgrove, who has battled cancer for most of his short life, turned on the Christmas lights in his home town of Prudhoe, Northumberland.

The six-year-old was diagnosed aged just one with neuroblastoma, the same cruel condition Bradley Lowery fought.

But his progress has been phenomenal.

And, on Friday night, to cheers, little Kian turned the lights in his Northumberland town on for the third time.

“Every time the lights are up but not turned on, he will say to me ‘mam, they are ready for me to turn on!’,” mum Kat said.

The only time he hasn’t turned them on in the last four years was when he was receiving treatment for the rare condition in New York.

His costly treatment was funded after donations – including one from Simon Cowell – flooded in from people inspired by the brave lad.

The family are still raising money should he need to head back to the Big Apple for extra treatment.

But, for now, Kian has been keeping busy by turning on the lights – and enjoying a ride on Santa’s sleigh.

And even though he’s a dab hand at flicking the switch, Kat says the honour never becomes less special.

“It is nice to see him do some special things that most children don’t get to do,” she said.
