BERWICK FORRESTER 56 3

BERWICK’S unbeaten start to their league campaign continued with a comprehensive home victory over Forrester at a wet Scremerston.

The victory saw Berwick take over at the top of the East League 1 with nine victories and one draw from their opening 10 fixtures, putting them two points ahead of Royal High.

Jack Dalrymple gave Berwick the lead with an early try, converted by Jack Webster, but the Edinburgh visitors hit back with a penalty from Graeme Dudgeon.

Duncan Hardie went over after 20 minutes to give the home side some breathing space, Webster’s conversion making it 14-3. Cameron Roberson then added a third try for the Blacks, Webster’s extras making it 21-3, and that was how it remained to the break.

Early in the second half, Dalrymple went over for his second score and again Webster converted for a 28-3 lead.

Jamie Pick then got in on the act with a fifth try for the home side, Webster again on the mark for 35-3 and, with Alistair Grieve going over for the sixth, another conversion stretched the lead to 42-3.

Tom Jackson added a seventh converted try for 49-3 and it was Gareth Hill who saw Berwick break the half century mark at 54, Webster again good with the boot to complete the scoring.
