BERWICK maintained their unbeaten run and stretched their lead at the top of East League 1 when they beat Royal High at Scremerston.
It was first against second, and both sides knew that victory would put them top of the pile.
Berwick made a bright start and crucially made it count on the scoreboard.
Andrew Skeen gave the hosts the lead with a penalty after six minutes but there was more to come.
On 15 minutes Jamie Pick went over for a try and with Skeen adding the conversion, the Blacks were 10-0 to the good.
Gareth Hill added a second try after 35 minutes as the scoreboard ticked over to 15-0.
But the Barnton opponents gave themselves some hope when they scored a try of their own, which they converted, to reduce the arrears, with the score sitting at 15-7 at half time.
In the second half Berwick put themselves under pressure when Jamie Pick was yellow carded and sent to the sin bin, but they weathered the storm and managed to maintain their advantage.
