Having Toon faithful huge impact against
JAMAAL Lascelles has heaped praise on Newcastle United fans for calling off a boycott ahead of today’s clash with Wolves.
The club captain says players are fully focused on delivering three points, but insists that the power of the Geordie faithful should never be underestimated and it can be a key factor in keeping the club in the Premier League this season.
Lascelles could lead the team out this afternoon after recovering from a shoulder injury to play his part in a creditable 1-1 draw at Everton.
Now Lascelles has warned players and fans can make the difference against a Wolves side on a high after beating Chelsea at Molineux.
He said: “As players all we are going to do is concentrate on football, that’s it.
“All we need to focus on winning games – everything else is out of our hands.
“But the fans have been excellent since I have been here.
“I know they are the best fans in the country.
“Having them behind us makes a massive impact but at the same time as players we need to stay focused on our job and concentrate.”
The Newcastle fans who travelled to Goodison Park roared the final whistle as if it had marked a Premier League victory on Wednesday night.
Lascelles said: “They are aware that the point was really important.
“They know it as much as we do as players.
“We were celebrating like we’d won because teams come to Everton and struggle but we stood firm.
“It doesn’t matter which teams go to Everton they will find it a tough ground.
“We came here on the back of a defeat and got a point on the board, but not just that, the way we conducted
