Two hurt in car pile up

TWO people were taken to hospital after a car hit a fence and overturned on Tyneside.

Emergency services were called to the collision involving two vehicles on Wharrier Street, close to the Jubilee Club, in Walker, Newcastle, at 11.40pm on Friday.

One car crashed into a fence and flipped on its roof.

The Medical Emergency Response Incident Team car was despatched with two ambulances and a hazardous area response team.

Paramedics took two people to the city’s RVI.

A spokespers­on for Northmbria Police said the injuries were not believed to be life-threatenin­g.

A North East Ambulance Service spokespers­on said: “We were called at 11.40pm last night to reports of a road traffic collision on Wharrier Street in Newcastle.

“We dispatched two double crewed ambulances.”
