WEARSIDE LEAGUE
THE Wearside League fixture list were decimated over the weekend as wintery conditions ensured that all but two games were postponed.
Sadly, the only league fixture to escape a postponement was abandoned after 27 minutes as Coxhoe Athletic keeper Harry Dowding suffered a serious injury in their game at Gateshead Leam Rangers.
The two sides had scored a goal each when Dowding suffered a serious-looking injury after a collision in his area.
Coxhoe confirmed after the game that their number one has suffered a fracture of his upper arm and will face a long injury lay-off.
Sunderland West End moved into the TWR Shipowners Charity Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win over Darlington Town.
First-half goals from Bryan Norton and John Butler put West End in control and substitute Mark Robinson added a third late on.
