Jake ready to step up to big-time championships
DURHAM motorcycle racer Jake Hopper has punched his ticket to the big time after revealing a step up to the British Junior Supersport championships this season.
The 14-year-old is set to join NP Motorcycles on a brand new Kawasaki 400 when the BSB support series roars into life in less than three months’ time.
Hopper, who finished second in the ACU National 125GP championship this past season with NG Road Racing, will have to get re-acquainted with a four-stroke machine after spending all of 2018 on a grand prix two-stroke.
But his team boss Neil Pearson believes he’s young enough to get back up to speed on the Ninja, a slightly bigger version of the 300 he rode in the 2017 Thundersport GB Superteens series.
“Jake isn’t shy of getting the throttle on and battling, so it’s just a matter of getting comfortable on the bike,” Pearson told Burning Rubber.
“We’re off to Spain at the end of February for a three-day test at Guadix, and after three days on it I think he’ll be alright.
“Jake is a good little lad, he can’t wait to get on it and we’re all really looking forward to the season now.”
