Steelers rescue a point in close-fought battle
THE Steelmen of Consett showed plenty of mettle as they rescued a draw from their visit to Whickham.
The dogged and determined Lang Jacks looked set to inflict only a third league defeat of the season on their visitors as they took a slim lead into second-half injury-time.
But captain Dan Craggs picked the perfect time to step up and curl a free-kick past Whickham keeper Dan Lister to ensure that the spoils were shared.
The Lang Jacks got off to the perfect start and were ahead inside the opening two minutes.

Kyle Oliver was given too much time to send a dangerous cross into the six-yard box but Stevens narrowly failed to make contact with the goal at his mercy.
Consett equalised with their first real chance of the game as former South Shields winger Aksel Juul produced a wonder strike from all of 25 yards that left Whickham keeper Dan Lister with no chance.
