Ross: We’re frustrated but in good position

Sunday Sun - - Football -

JACK Ross admits he is frustrated at seeing another two points slip through Sunderland’s grasp – but insists his side are still in a good position.

The Black Cats had to settle for a draw against promotion rivals Luton Town at the Stadium of Light, with Chris Maguire’s first-half opener cancelled out by James Collins’ penalty midway through the second period.

Ross said: “If we don’t win games at home, we always feel frustrated and disappointed. But we were playing against a good team today – they are where they are in the league for a reason.

“The game was probably as we expected it to be. When they did well, they looked threatening, and when we did well we looked threatening.

“We thought it would pan out that way and we’d prepared for that, so I was quite happy with that.

“I know when I say that it’s another point towards the total, people will say that I’m deflecting attention away because we haven’t won.

“But there is an element of fact about it.

“We are in a good position at the moment – not a brilliant position, but a good position.

“We still have a game in hand over those top two teams and if we win that game in hand then we will be in an even better position.”
