House- builders sign up to region’s biggest food and drink festival

VISITORS to the region’s biggest food and drink event could pick up much more than a tasty treat.

Housebuilders Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes North East are now sponsoring the Delicious North East Food and Drink Festival and will be present at the weekend to help families find their ideal new home.

Sales director Fenton Hewitt said: “We’ll be talking to people about the great range of homes we have on offer in Sunderland and Washington. There’ll also be lots of information about the help and support we can offer first time buyers and families in finding their perfect homes.

“Barratt and David Wilson Homes have something to suit every buyer. Barratt Homes has starter homes from £ 97,000 at our Castle View and Highfields developments in Sunderland city centre while David Wilson Homes has six- bedroom bespoke homes from £ 500,000 at The Willows in Washington.”

Barratt and David Wilson Homes decided to sponsor the event, on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday July 15 at Nissan’s Wearside plant, when one of their sales advisers read about the event.

Fenton said: “Lyndsey Oliver from our Elba Park development in Shiney Row, read about the event and thought it would be a great opportunity for us to support the community.”

Guest chefs including Kenny Atkinson, of Rockliffe Hall, and Dave Coulson, of the Castle Eden Inn, will show off their kitchen skills in the festival’s theatre kitchen alongside CBBC food adventurer Stefan Gates and his ex- plosive methods of bringing food and science together.

Visitors can also browse a range of stalls selling all kinds of delicious delights and visit a Camra ale and cider festival running at the same time.

The SAFC Foundation of Light will be offering coaching sessions and there will be fairground rides and live music throughout both days.
