GLENN PUTS BEST FOOT FORWARD

-

He told the Echo: “I’m delighted to have Glenn on the bill.

“I didn’t hesitate for an instant in including him the moment his licence was returned, because he’s a real talent – a couple more fights and I’ll be happy to put him in with anybody!

“He’s won all six of his pro fights so far. He’s exciting to watch and I believe it won’t be long before he’s fighting for a title.

“He’s brave as a lion, doesn’t fear anyone and is hungry to climb the rankings – which is exactly the type of boxer I want to promote.

“He knows though that he can’t afford to get into bother again after having his licence suspended and personally, I don’t think he will

“He’s a young lad who is growing up and got involved in something he shouldn’t have done but there’s always two sides to every story and now that the case is dealt with and Glenn has done what was asked of him, it’s time to put all that behind him and get on with a boxing career which has real promise.

“I’m excited about the whole Summer Rumble 2 bill but I know that Glenn will play his part in what will be a great day for North East fight fans.”

Foot received a six- month community order, three- month curfew and was ordered to pay £ 1,000 compensation costs after being convicted of assaulting a bouncer at a fighting event at the Pullman Lodge, in Sunderland, in February.

Newcastle Crown Court heard trouble had flared at the boxing tournament, which Foot was not part of, and resulted in a fight between door staff and a group of men.

Judge Guy Whitburn avoided giving a custodial or suspended sentence after hearing such a move could signal the end of Foot’s boxing career.

The judge said: “I don’t want to be party to the destruction of your career.

“It is a matter entirely for you, it is a hazardous profession but nontheless you seem to show you are rather good at it.

“I express the hope the British Board of Boxing Control will look favourably on your application for your licence back.”

Jeffries said: “Glenn’s relieved to have got his licence back and now he just wants to make up for lost time.”

Tickets for the show are priced £ 30, and there are also four executive boxes remaining. For further information ring 07747 611 020.
