Horse- punch fan jailed

A FOOTBALL fan has been jailed for 12 months for punching a horse after last year’s Tyne and Wear derby.

Barry Rogerson attacked Bud the police horse outside St James’s Park after the game, which Sunderland won 3- 0 last April.

The 45- year- old, of Bedlington, Northumber­land, last month pleaded guilty to a charge of violent disorder and appeared at Newcastle Crown Court yesterday for sentence, where he was also given a sixyear football banning order.

Rogerson was one of seven men being dealt with by Newcastle Crown Court having pleaded guilty to violent disorder after trouble flared in Newcasle city centre after the match. All were jailed.
