Voice for Wearside Dark chapter is at an end

-

ONE of the darkest chapters in Sunderland’s history is at an end.

Serial killer Steven Grieveson is to serve a fourth life sentence after a jury found him guilty of the murder of schoolboy Simon Martin.

If there is any justice in the world, Grieveson will die behind bars.

Over the course of this trial we have heard, despite his protestations, that Grieveson was a calculated serial killer who cared for no- one.

The details of his case make for difficult and disturbing reading.

Four boys were robbed of their lives; four families had their sons ripped from them.

It is a heartbreaking story that cast a shadow over our community.

Our thoughts are with all the family and friends affected by this case, and trust the verdict has brought them the justice they craved.
