Nursery staff are hat- trick heroes!
IT’S a hat trick for nursery bosses who are celebrating an outstanding rating by education chiefs for the third time.
Ofsted inspectors heaped praise on Houghton Community Nursery School after their recent visit.
The Nesham Place nursery was even given top marks for the additional room for two- year- olds, which only opened in September.
Headteacher Jane Bulmer said: “We have a really strong and stable staff team here. We do a lot of continuing professional development and it’s all centred around the early years provision.
“I am so pleased for the staff who work so hard. They even gave up time during the school holidays to make sure the new room was all finished and right for the children to come into.”
The headteacher said being rated as outstanding does not mean relaxing.
She said: “It
is always about what can we do next to improve. We just want to continue to do more and do better, we have to keep changing with the times.”
Inspectors said: “Staff use the resources extremely effectively to support children’s learning and play and as a result, children concentrate for long periods and are fully engaged in their play. Exceptionally good relationships with parents significantly enhance children’s learning and development, because staff promote the importance of the home learning environment.
“Children are exceptionally wellcared for by highly skilled key per- sons who form secure attachments with all children.”
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the nursery should enhance the already well- equipped outdoor play area with resources such as chimes and plants to further stimulate children’s sensory experiences.
