Hat- trick hero Bogie keeps Belford’s House in order
ASHBROOKE Belford House jumped three places to seventh from bottom with Saturday’s five- goal romp at second from bottom Gateshead Leam Rangers.
Following a tentative opening, the Wearsiders broke the deadlock midway through the opening half with Mark Green beating goalkeeper Phil Creed from a free- kick.
At the interval, there was no indication of the goal avalanche which was to follow but Ashbrooke dominated the second period with man- of- the- match Stephen Bogie claiming a hat- trick.
Ryan Veitch also struck with Leam’s only success credited to Anthony Brewis.
Horden CW improved their position in the bottom half of the table with victory at Harton and Westoe.
Michael Cain fired the Colliers into the lead and after Sean Flood levelled, Chris Tarn, Cain and Michael Cockburn gave their side a three- goal cushion until Flood scored again near the end.
Sunderland West End consolidated fifth place by defeating Hartlepool with a last- gasp goal.
Shane O’Brien headed Pools in front on 40 minutes but West End went in on level terms following Michael McCabe’s close range tap in.
Peter Crawford regained the initiative for the home side but when O’Brien levelled with just a minute of normal time remaining, a draw looked the likely outcome.
In added time, however, Barry Turton drove in the winner from eight yards.
Easington Colliery also left it late before claiming a point against Richmond Town, who appeared home and dry when they led by two goals with just a couple of minutes left on the clock.
Kalumn Holbrook converted a penalty, awarded after he had been brought down and he beat goalkeeper Kyle Donaldson for a second time on 68 minutes.
In the 88th minute, Adam McQuillan threaded a through ball to Paul Taylor who reduced the deficit and with virtually the last kick of the game Brian Norton headed in the equaliser.
Ryhope CW’s reign at the top of the table lasted less than 24 hours. After moving into pole position with Friday’s win over Silksworth CW, they are back into second place following Stockton Town’s seven- goal blast of Coxhoe Athletic.
Adam Nicholson and Michael Dunwell twice had the Teessiders ahead but on both occasions Coxhoe hit back with strikes from Jonathan Hornsby and Kyle Scott.
Early in the second half, it was anyones game but Stockton finished strongly to score five times in 17 minutes courtesy of Kallum Hannah, with a brace, John Briggs, Nicholson and Chris Stockton.
Cleator Moor Celtic remain third but they endured some anxious moments before seeing off a strong challenge from visitors Jarrow for whom Liam Baynes reduced a two- goals deficit. Darren Johnson and Leigh Dunn netted for Celtic.
The game was played in monsoon conditions in Cumbria.
Annfield Plain produced one of the shock results of the season when they hit fourth- placed Redcar Athletic for six with goals by Scot Goldsmith- Scott ( 2), Ross Nicholson, Scott Heslop, Michael Bell and Lee Mole ( pen). Aaron Reynolds ( og) and Kyran Clark replied.
An only goal by Mattie Kelsey after an hour proved sufficient for Seaton Carew at home to Boldon CA, who are in the bottom three.
