Stalker son gets life ban

A SON has been banned from going near or contacting his mother in a bid to put a stop to his stalking spree.

Dale Younger was put before a court after making his mother Susan’s life a misery by harassing her outside her home and at work.

Sunderland Magistrates’ Court agreed to an indefinite restraining order after hearing of the catalogue of occasions where he begged her for cash and threatened violence.

The bench was told how the 22- year- old’s behaviour was sparked by his drinking, with his mother fearful of her son when under the influence of drugs.

A MAN struggling with the aftermath of a horrific assault in which both his legs were broken was found slumped behind the wheel of his car while nearly four times the drink- drive limit.

Reece Vipond had fallen out with his girlfriend when police were called to a Renault Clio blocking the road in Redwood Grove, Tunstall, in the early hours of September 30.

Vipond, 33, was revving the engine of the car which had been left at an awkward angle from the kerb, Sunderland magistrates heard.

“He was clearly very drunk,” prosecutor Paul Anderson said. “He denied he had been driving. He said he’d had an argument with his girlfriend, and was going to retrieve his keys from the car and he wasn’t revving the engine.

“He couldn’t explain why the car was at 45 degrees to the kerb. He claimed he had been set up.”

A breath test confirmed Vipond, of Coniston Avenue, Fulwell, had 134 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes. He was also found in possession of cannabis.

Vipond pleaded guilty to being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle and possession of a Class B drug. Chris Wilson, mitigating, said Vipond has a personality disorder as a result of an assault.

“He was the victim of a prolonged and sustained assault, whereby his legs were broken,” Mr Wilson said.

“He is self medicating with cannabis for the pain he is suffering in his legs.

“Sometimes he is struggling to walk and uses a stick due to the pain in his legs.”

He added that Vipond had an argument with his girlfriend that night and he had sat in the car because he had nowhere else to go.

“In the cold light of day he accepts he was culpable of the offence,” he added.

Mr Wilson asked for a pre- sentence report to be prepared by the probation service. He will be sentenced on Wednesday, November 6.
