Mould: I want to push on

-

SUNDERLAND scrapper Lee Mould says he will fight anyone, anytime, anywhere in pursuit of climbing the boxing rankings, writes GRAEME ANDERSON.

The 24- year- old welterweight goes into the ring on Sunday on the Winner Takes It All bill at South Shields’ Temple Park Leisure Centre, still uncertain who his opponent will be.

But he told the Echo that does not concern him as he looks to put together a string of fights this season which will build his reputation.

Mould said: “It doesn’t bother me who I fight and it’s not a big deal to me that I might know little about him.

“I’ve got every faith in my trainer, Mal Gates, and my own ability and I’m at the stage where I really want to push on now.

“For one reason or another I haven’t fought that much recently but that’s going to change now.”

Mould is unbeaten over six fights, having made his professional debut in May, 2012.

His last fight was in July on Phil Jeffries Summer Rumble bill at the Stadium of Light and he impressed with a secondround knockout of South Shields scrapper George Watson.

Mould said: “I enjoyed that fight and I’m pleased that it hasn’t been too long before getting back in the ring again.

“I took a week off from training after that win and then I was straight back in the gym and I’ve been training ever since.

“I’m looking forward to the weekend and showing what I can do and I know another fight is being lined up in the North East before the end of the month if all goes well. “That suits me. “I just want to be fighting as regularly as possible. I’m out to make a name for myself and I can’t wait to get in the ring this Sunday.”

Hetton light- heavyweight Jordan King is a late withdrawal from the bill.

The unbeaten 22- year- old has come down with a virus.

Newbottle- born supermiddleweight Lynden Watt will face a new opponent after the late withdrawal of scheduled fighter, Lithuanian prospect David Sajauka.

Fight fans can buy tickets on the door at Temple Park on Sunday afternoon, with the boxing due to start at 1.30pm.
