Timely double injury boost for Pardew

DARYL Janmaat and Paul Dummett will be fit to face Leicester City when Newcastle United get back in action next Saturday, writes MILES STARFORTH.

Injuries have ruled the defensive pair out of the Euro 2016 qualifiers for Holland and Wales respectively.

But summer signing Janmaat ( hamstring) and home- grown Dummett ( thigh) are pencilled in to return to training next week ahead of what Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has labelled a “massive game” at St James’s Park.

The likely availability of Janmaat and Dummett will come as a relief to Pardew, who is under intense pressure from supporters with his winless team third from bottom in the table.

However, Pardew must now wait to see if the rest of the club’s international players, among them Papiss Cisse, Cheick Tiote and Moussa Sissoko, return unscathed from international fixtures across Europe and Africa.

Cisse is in the Senegal side to face Tunisia in an African Cup of Nations qualifier in Dakar. tonight. Sissoko and Remy Cabella hope to start France’s Paris qualifier against Portugal tomorrow.

Keeper Tim Krul is in the Holland squad for a Euro 2016 qualifier against Kazakhstan tonight.

Preparations for the visit of newly- promoted Leicester will not be able to start in earnest until the back end of next week when Pardew has his full squad back on Tyneside.

“It’s a time where we lose all our big players, and they come back and we’re going to have two days to prepare for a massive game,” said Pardew. “It’s a big, big chance for us to get our win in the next home game. We’ve got to try and take it.”

Defender Steven Taylor – who missed last weekend’s 2- 2 draw at Swansea – will also be available.

Newcastle allowed 19- year- old centre- half Remie Streete to join Port Vale on a month’s loan yesterday.
