Foyle Street Writers meet weekly in Sunderland City Library on a Thursday from 10am-noon.They share ideas and support fellow creative writers. New members are welcome.

Sunderland Antiquaria­n Society Archives at the Sunderland Antiquaria­n and Heritage Centre, 6 Douro Terrace, is open for research on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9.30am-noon.

At Sunderland Maritime Heritage, work is progressin­g well on the Willdora cabin. All are welcome to go down to have a look. The website was launched last week. tre will hold a coffee morning tomorrow at 10am. This will be followed at noon by the luncheon club. A twocourse meal followed by tea orcoffee is served at a cost of £3.50. On Wednesdays Rainbows and Brownies meet from 5pm-7.30pm followed at 8pm by the ever popular bingo club. Every Monday from 10am-noon there is an IT, sessions, which covers everthing from beginners onwards. From 9.30am -11.30am there is a children’s section. Tuesday evenings there are a variety of dance classes at various times from 5.45pm through to 8.30pm. Dance classes continue on Thursday evenings at 6.15pm and 9.30pm. South Hylton Local History Society will meet in The Tansy Centre on Monday, May 16, at 7pm. Speaker will be Dave Walmsley with RAF Usworth Squadron. Annual subs of £4 are now due. New members are always welcome and also guests.The society meets on the third Monday of each month. Entrance is £1.50, which includes a door raffle and tea, coffee and biscuits. Doxford Park bowls played Grangetown bowls club and had a most enjoyable night. Unfortunat­ely, the club did not win but members are hopeful for next time.

Every Sunday St Wilfred’s Church meets in the community centre and everyone is welcome.

A photograph­ic class meets on a Thursday from 1pm to 3pm in the centre. Weightwatc­hers classes are on every Friday from 9am-11 30am and Slimming World meets Mondays from 9am-11am and Tuesdays from 3.30pm9pm. Line dancing is on every Wednesday from noon1.30pm and sequence dancing Wednesdays from 7.15pm -8 15pm. For more informatio­n on these and other activities, ring Val on 5979227.
