Sunderland Echo

Let’s make #wearhere a soaraway success!

-

Wearsiders are being reminded to make #WearHere a sky-high success tomorrow.

The Echo-backed initiative encourages admirers of our great city to use social media to share their pride in and devotion to Sunderland.

Last year’s inaugural #WearHere saw over 4,000 Tweets during an hour-long ‘thunderclap’ that saw the hashtag rise to second place on national Twitter trend maps and, with support from ourselves and celebrity names like Lauren Laverne and Melanie Hill.

The second city-wide social media takeover will be staged tomorrow at 5pm – just an hour before the official start of Sunderland International Airshow.

So the challenge is simple: Once again we need you to be active on your phones and online again for an hour to post the images, memories and stories that show your pride and passion in Sunderland, using the #WearHere hashtag.

Together, we can make this year’s effort bigger and better and get it top of the national trend.

Once again, Twitter will be the social media focal point, but you can spread and share the love for Sunderland across Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat too.

Richard Ord, deputy editor, said: “The Sunderland Echo likes nothing better than to shout about what a great city we live, work and play in, which is why we’re delighted to support the #WearHere campaign.

“We’re sure with the great support from our many city partners, celebrities and, of course, the great Sunderland public, this year’s campaign can be the biggest and best yet.”

To get involved, share favourite photographs, stories and memories about Sunderland, on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat, using the hashtag #WearHere.
