SEAHAM AIM TO CONTINUE FORM TO CLIMB DUKES ECB NEPL FIRST DIVISION TABLE
Seaham Harbour, unbeaten in three league games and collecting 50 points along the way, need to continue this rich vein of form to continue climbing the Dukes ECB NEPL First Division table towards safety.
They welcome the league leaders Sacriston this weekend to New Drive, knowing that they face their toughest test yet, this season.
Stuart Lacey, Seaham Harbour’s cricket manager said, “We have four tough games ahead, including our game with Sacriston, as we play Willington, Felling and Boldon, in the next three games.
“However, we have some new spirit and confidence in the team, after recent results and have made ourselves harder to beat in recent games, which is giving the players a bit more selfbelief.”
Team news is that Jack Lacey is available after his holidays, but Mark Marwood is unavailable.
Sacriston have a few changes ahead of the game with Reece Carr definitely out with a knee injury and wicket-keeper Graeme Wrightson is attending a wedding.
Will Gidman may have Nottinghamshire commitments, so he may be unavailable. Craig Burke retains his place and Solomon Bell will make his first team league debut at the age of 15.
Solomon has scored a century and five half centuries in the seconds and thirds so far this season and deserves his chance.
Iain Bestford, Sacriston’s club’s spokesman said: “They havesomereallygoodplayers and we will be wary of them, but we go into the game confident and looking forward to the next challenge.”
Willington in fifth, have unfortunately fell off the pace this season, after a very promising start to the season.
“They have not won in the league since June 4 when they beat Washington at Manor Road.
They travel to Tudhoe on Saturday who are fighting for their lives, desperately needing points to avoid relegation.
Steven Alderson returns to the team as does Jack Louth, to strengthen the batting considerably and they replace Steven Bradwell and Jonathan Davis respectively.
Sunderland another team badly in need of points and just 19 points ahead of Tudhoe, welcome Felling to Ashbrooke who sit in second place.
Mainsforth travel to Blaydon with Gary Cummings back from his achilles heel problem and Dan Smith also returns.
John Sweeney returns to the second team. In the other two fixtures Boldon in third, entertain Burnmoor in fourth and Brandon welcome Washington.
