Super subs steal the show as Hall Farm hit six of the best

Hall Farm Glasshus showed no mercy to newcomers Billingham as they maintained their pursuit of table-toppers Wheatley Hill WMC.

The Teessiders made life tough for the Sunderland outfit, but the home side’s subs helped make a huge difference in a 6-0 success.

Ian Canavan (2), Liam Wooton and Ricardo Cabezas all notched for Hall Farm after getting off the bench, with Martin Hope and Dean Smith also on target.

Andrew Tatters was outstandin­g for Glasshus, while James Patrick shone in vain for Billingham.

Leaders Wheatley Hill WMC extended their unbeaten start to four wins and two draws, staying a point ahead of Hall Farm, thanks to an excellent 5-2 triumph at Durham City Reserves.

Man of the match Lee Westgarth plundered a fine hattrick to lead Wheatley home, backed by efforts from Joe Smith and David Trenholme.

Mason Hudson stood out for City, whose marksmen were Jordan Nicholson and sub Luke Elves.

Newcomers West Auckland Tuns secured a fine 3-1 home success against Newton Aycliffe Navy Club in the first round of the Auckland Charity Cup.

Paul Bailes was the hero, hitting a clinical hat-trick, with Jamie Whitworth taking the star man honours against the Crook and District League side.

Sherburn Village WMC were pipped 4-3 in a thriller by visitors Middleston­e Moor Masons Arms. Keagan Spencer, Alex Walker and sub Dan Johnson struck for Sherburn, with Josh Brown their top performer.

Man of the match Liam Gill, Liam Bain and Adam LeeShield all notched as Bishop Auckland Reserves saw off Wolsingham 3-0.
