Millfield Oddies take Laing road to victory against Railway
David Laing was toast of the town after his four-goal haul inspired Millfield Oddies to a 4-3 Third Division win over unlucky Ryhope New Railway.
Tony Barrs was on form for Oddies and had a hand in Laing’s goals. Robbie Middlebrook, Rob Cummings and Chris Longley responded.
The Dolphin recorded their second successive win, beating Westmount 3-1.
The game could have gone either way when Joe Reynolds hit an early goal for Westmount and James Donkin soon levelled.
Both teams missed a host of chances but lady luck was with the Dolphin as Craig Wilkinson and Jon Bradley found the net to seal victory.
Darien Thompson shone for Dolphin, with Nathan Watson best for Westmount.
The Pattison brothers were back to their best as The Park overcame a tough Park View side 5-3 to sit comfortably in second place.
Dan Pattison hit a treble and Michael fired a brace past View keeper Troy Baker.
Robby Robson enjoyed his birthday with a fine double for View, with Reece Benson also scoring.
Keeper Mark Bell starred for Park, with Daniel Nkemjika best for View.
Silksworth Catholic Club brought Railway Tavern back to earth with a thumping 102 win.
Eddy Wood and Darren Davie both notched four goals, with Ian Donkin and Matty Jones finishing the scoring. Brent Brooke shone.
Penshaw CC continue their decent run, winning 4-2 at Wearmouth CW Juniors, to move them into a promotion place.
Liam Jordan (2), Sean Williams and Aaron Price gave Penshaw the win, with Craig Williams and Abdulrahman Ajhajeri replying.
TC and Millfield Free Gardeners drew 1-1 to edge away from the depths.
Star man Chris Burdon pulled the strings and set up Peter Thompson for TC’s goal, but Anth Murtha grabbed a late equaliser.
Paul Glover shone for Free Gardeners.
Leaders Grange Park added another three points to their total after a hard-fought 4-2 win over Wear United.
Liam Grimes, Shaun Fisk and Nath Groom (2) kept them six points clear.
United held their own for most of the game and had Grange Park on the ropes after Steve Barnes and Sam Wade scored.
But Grange held firm to seal a 12th straight win.
Thorney Close Inn suffered a 10th defeat in 12 games as The Royal Marine pulled away from the First Division drop zone.
Man of the match Peter Marshall hit a hat-trick to earn Marine a 5-3 win and an Aidan Raeburn brace ensured the points.
Tommy Smurthwaite struck twice for Thorney, while Craig Collins hit their third, late on.
The Lansdowne claimed the bragging rights for the Hylton Road derby with a convincing 6-0 win over Oddies.
Luke Taylor started the scoring against his old side, then star man Shaun Smith scored a beauty and ran the show for the hosts, who moved a point behind leaders Victoria Gardens.
Keith Airson, Kristian Tyson, Matthew Frost and Layton Conley finished the scoring. Stalwart Gary Sloan shone for Oddies.
The Ashbrooke Sports Club were ruthless in front of goal to demolish Willlow Pond 15-.
Michael Brown, Luke Hellens and Clark Stead all bagged hat-tricks against keeper Jordan Smith.
Nathan Renton (2), Josh Perry, Jason Simpson and Matthew Johnstone also notched, while Anth Davis was manofthematch.
Willow did not have a strike on target all game.
The Stumble Inn and Board Inn played out a close-fought goalless draw.
