CATS & BLOGS

Three years ago, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life.

Blindfolded with my hand in a baseball cap I swirled my fingers around and drew a single sliver of paper with the word ‘Sunderland’ written on it.

From that point on, I vowed to support Sunderland from the United States. At that moment I had absolutely no idea what I was in for.

The past two seasons have been filled with elation, dejection and mostly respite while watching the Lads struggle to stay up.

After Big Sam kept Sunderland up last season, and with the money coming to the club, I figured another relegation battle would not occur for some time.

But after Big Sam left and new manager David Moyes was only able to bring in loanees and free agents, I have been waiting for the other shoe to drop and relegation to occur.

At this very second, it is beginning to feel more and more like the other shoe is dropping.

With the sale of Patrick van Aanholt, for a reported £14m, the Lads seem to be attempting to stay up.

But with Big Vic heading to the injured list for around 10 weeks, Sunderland are still in need of signing another player that can make an immediate impact.

Robbie Brady’s name had been thrown around as well as Leonardo Ulloa, even though Leicester rejected a £7m offer.

Sunderland are desperatetomakeanattacking splash in this transfer window, but are extremely hampered by a lack of funds due to the high amount of debt the club finds itself in.

As of now, it does not look good for Sunderland, but we have seen the Lads in situations like this before, but a miracle may be needed for this season.
