11 things you said about: Sunderland’s deadline-day transfer business

-

The transfer window came to a close yesterday with Sunderland failing to sign a new striker, despite David Moyes admitting it was a ‘priority’ to replace the injured Victor Anichebe. A move for Leicester City frontman Leonardo Ulloa came to nothing, with the Foxes rejecting a third bid for the Argentinian, believed to be worth £8million. It leaves Sunderland going through the remainder of the season extremely light on attacking options. Here’s what you had to say:

1 We have needed a striker for 3 seasons now, so for the club to say time has run out is a joke – blackcat1973 2 Double whammy from Palace. Drag out the PVA deal (although paying way over the odds) and we then run out of time/ideas/hope. Gotta hand it to Allardyce, he knows how to scrap. Looking forward to the mind games ahead of the weekend – eftiem64 3 This has to be the final of all final nails in the proverbial coffin. I’m done with this lot. They don’t deserve the loyalty from the fans and sadly I’m with one or two others who think it’s struggles ahead in the championship – jockssocksrocks73 4 We had 5 hours , in a high-tech world of communication, to spend the Ulloa money on one of the “back-up options “but we’ve failed miserably and been fed a pack of lies – willymackfeet 5 Fairly predictable I guess, but this is what you get for hanging around till the last minute, without having any real strategy in place, all we can do now is make do with what we’ve got and prey for no more injuries and/or suspensions. For if (heaven forbid) we lose JD through injury, then that could be us right up the creek without a paddle/ much hope – Samsonthecat 6 They never had any intention of spending any money Moyes should be sacked for his buys anyway and 2 of the 3 he’s brought in are a joke – SAFC Champions League Fans 7 What a farce. Why leave it until the last few hours of the month to sign anyone – jefjam 8 Manager after manager have said there is a problem within the club. We all know now who it is because all the old guard have gone and that leaves one person. ELLIS SHORT – pegosafc 9 City made it clear that Leo would not be allowed to leave the KP for a relegation rival. Not sure why this persisted for so long? £60m wouldn’t have bought him...he is a great player and may have helped send us down – Kev4362 10 not signing another centre forward will prove costly, we have been lucky the last 2 seasons, we do not have in our squad enough goals to keep us up, that’s how I see it – safcmod 11 so if anything happens to jermain we’re done for.. still, nice little £6.5m profit for the owner there off this window – 19Fabster73
